Same deal as last time. I’ll talk about funding cuts but I’ll finish with a picture of a cute bunny.
DCMS’s latest news is that they’ll:
- abolish the UK Film Council (although government and Lottery support of film will continue)
- abolish the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council, which is based in Birmingham
- merge the National Lottery Commission with the (Birmingham-based) Gambling Commission,
- do various other things too
I’m not too sure of the potential repercussions of the UKFC going but it seems to be responsible for quite a lot. Locally, it currently funds First Light Movies and Screen WM, but I’m not clear on what will/won’t/might be taken on by other organisations.
