Comments at Ikon

February 15, 2010 by Chris Unitt

I had a poke around the new exhibition at Ikon yesterday afternoon. Now showing: Clare Rojas – We They, We They João Maria Gusmão and Pedro Paiva – On the Movement of the Fried Egg and Other Astronomical Bodies I always think the chalkboard in the resource room is worth an exhibition of its own.

Who rules the Birmingham art world?

November 3, 2009 by Chris Unitt

This is for the Birmingham Art Zine (BAZ) launch night, 5 November at The White Swan in Digbeth, 6-9pm: BAZ are well aware that a room full of people reading a small pink text heavy magazine – looking to see if their names are mentioned – is not really a recipe for a great night … [Read more…]

Birmingham contemporary art museum

November 1, 2009 by Chris Unitt

I’m playing catch-up on this one. I’ve heard the idea of a contemporary art museum for Birmingham (or Tate Birmingham, as it’s been referred to in some quarters) mentioned in passing a few times but that’s it, so consider this a glorified links round-up as I try to find out what info has thus far … [Read more…]

Lubberland + Creative Playground + Sample + Keenan = packed blog post!

August 2, 2009 by Adrienne

Thanks for the thoughts and input into the future of CiB.  I hope it didn’t seem I was suggesting it be disbanded – I wanted more to open up debate on how technology itself has moved on from when CiB began and that the direction/organisation/intention of CiB needs looking at.  Your suggestions have been very … [Read more…]

Wednesdays at Ikon Gallery

June 2, 2008 by Chris Unitt

A couple of good things from the Ikon. Firstly, every Wednesday over the summer the gallery and bookshop will be open until 8pm (cafe until 11pm). Coinciding with the late openings is a series of talks called ‘These are a few of my favourite things’ which will be loosely based on Desert Island Discs where … [Read more…]
