BiNS reports that the BBC Big Screen is to be removed from Chamberlain Square this month before being errected in Victoria Square sometime in November. Jon also has news that they’re looking into some kind of YouTube submission system to make it easier for locals to get their own content on the screen. Which would be great if it weren’t a massive blight on the mental environment of our city. (I don’t like the Big Screen concept…)

I always wanted to see a video conferencing (iChat or whatever) setup hooked into the bigscreen, then an identical one installed in one of our sister cities (http://www.bhamwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=List_of_Birmingham's_sister_cities).
Simple, and possibly cliched, but it could lead to creative content and links being developed..
what amuses me is the way all those early 20th century science fiction distopian visions of the future had cities with public telly screens all over the place…
Wrong Birmingham, mates. I’d imagine your sister cities are more grown up.
