  • The third Filum Night at the Spotted Dog is tonight, showing Felicia’s Journey by William Trevor, “a sinister tale set in sunny Birmingham. Free tea, buns and chat from 8pm”. Register your interest on Facebook or just turn up as all are welcome.

  • The Moseley Village Band are resuming their fortnightly meetings and are looking for new blood. They meet at St Columba’s Church Hall from 7.30 to 9.15 pm on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, playing “lively traditional tunes for dancing and for listening. If you read music, bring a music stand, but if you play by ear, that’s fine.” The next meets are the 13th and 27th of September with a cost-covering charge or £3 a session (£1.50 concessions).     Ouch! Two damning reports in the Birmingham Post about the B1 CD, one on Saturday and another today! Andrew Sparrow talks today in more detail about the copyright issues surrounding placing track online, and how BCC have breached these.

    Also, underneath, a piece by Dubber on the irrelevance of the charts… a lovely condensed version of the issues talked about on his own site.
