Stan’s Cafe are rehearsing their new show which’ll be :

The Just Price of Flowers is a play about the events that led to last year’s financial meltdown. It is set in 17th Century Nertherlands, with the city of Haarlem gripped by Tulipmania. Inspired by Bertolt Brecht, it uses two songs and twenty-one, three minute long scenes to show how borrowing a few guilders to buy a bulb can escalate to fortunes riding on credit default swaps.

This ‘austerity production’ is performed on stage 2m wide and 1.5m deep, with origami props and costumes recycled from previous shows. Rehearsals are scheduled for just five days and tickets are on sale for just five pounds.

They’ve recently rejigged their website too, with bloggy updates about this show cropping up alongside snippets of news and other things going on at the AE Harris building.
