Local lads Troumaca and a cohort of Brum-based bands and DJs will be bringing the freshest of vibes to the most historic of venues this New Year’s Eve. The Old Crown in Digbeth will play host to an eclectic line-up of the best new music Birmingham has to offer.

After causing a stir at local venues like The Hare & Hounds, Troumaca were promptly signed to Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Records label and became firm favourites at this year’s Mostly Jazz, Funk & Soul Festival.

This band is a live music powerhouse – always guaranteed to serve up a melting pot of down-tempo electronic chords and calypso rhythms with a tropical swing. With song arrangements encompassing UK-bass culture and soulful harmonies direct from the Caribbean, a night with Troumaca is the perfect start to a blessed 2014.

The line-up also includes Knicker Bocker Corey. This young brummy producer’s music has been featured on Diplo’s Mad Decent website this year.

If his jam hot DJ-set at Spotlight last Saturday was anything to go by his mix of classic tracks and hot-off-the-press underground releases will get The Old Crown jumping.

The Old Crown is Birmingham’s oldest pub, serving Digbeth and Deritend’s revellers since 1368.

Tickets are available from Provide in The Custard Factory and Urban Outfitters on Corporation Street for £7 (earlybird).
