Introducing SnapClip

SnapClip-PROVIDE

“The SnapClip is a simple, quick fitting, tool-free way of attaching bicycle accessories using the power of rare earth magnets.”

Earlier this year I met up with Andy Reeve – he had a top secret project he was working on that he wanted my opinions for “as a cyclist and appreciator of good design”. He showed me his prototypes for SnapClip, a simple product which could change the way that cyclists use bicycle accessories.

I’ve known Andy for a couple of years now. I first met him at the launch party of my magazine FAKE, back then he was blogging as The Stylish Cyclist, and undertaking a year long photography project that he began after the death of his brother. This project adopted the title ‘366. Smiles’, which in turn has become his business name. He explains why:

At it’s core, my photography project 366. Smiles was about reflecting on all that is good in life and all the things that make me smile. It soon became pretty clear that riding my bike and the bikes themselves were important to me. And I wanted to bring this ethos into my business, to help other people smile everyday with products which make their life better.

The SnapClip, brought to you by 366., allows you to make seamless changes and additions in accessories to your bike, without the need for tools or ugly fixings. It’s been designed, and will be manufactured in Birmingham.

The project has only four days (at time of writing) left on their kickstarter – it ends at 9pm on Friday 13th December. It’s had over £6,000+ worth of support so far but really could do with your help in getting the word out so they can reach their target by the end of the week.

Visit their kickstarter to find out more info here.

I think that if SnapClip was the universal/standardised method of attaching cycling fixings, then I would have undoubtably got round to putting my old bike bell on my new bike by now.
