Some Cities

I have recently come across Some Cities: Stories from the city of Birmingham, told through photographs, made by the people who live and work there.

Set up by two local photographers (Andrew Jackson and Dan Burwood) Some Cities aim to build a collection of images to cultivate conversations, and a community of photographers. They even go as far as saying they want to make Birmingham ‘the city of photography’.

There are a number of ways you can get involved, from submitting your images, applying for their commissions, adding the hashtag #somecities to any relevant photos you tweet, through to attending their programmed talks. There are more ways listed on the about section of their website.

Birmingham has some brilliant photography initiatives set up by passionate photographers – such as Birmingham Viewpoint, Birmingham Loves Photographers and Photo School (and much more) and I’m sure Some Cities is a welcome addition to the blossoming photography community in Birmingham.

They are having a launch party on Friday 15th November, 7pm-11pm at The Old Print Works. Full address on their facebook event.
