- 4Talent interviews filmmaker Mark Locke
- animate!tv seeks proposals from UK-based artists and animators for risk-taking and experimental films for television. Five films will be commissioned, with budgets up to 20k. The deadline is 27 April. More details at the link.
- Edgbaston-based Ditto Music came to notice in January when they helped unsigned band Koopa enter the UK singles charts by acting as their de-facto record lable when the band hadn’t signed any of their rights away. (More analysis from Andrew Dubber.) Worth noting, then, that they’ve done in again with W. Mids band Midas who charted at number 59 last month. Press release (.doc file).
- Kitchen Sink to Black Ink at The Drum has four of Birmingham’s best known Black women writers; Jasmine Johnson, Ava Ming, Sue Brown and Kim Trusty, taking to the stage at The Drum on April 12th for a spoken word event. More details at the link.
