KINO 10 upcoming events

Established in 2010, KINO 10 has been bringing the best in short film to audiences across the Midlands. Scouring film festivals from all over the globe, they mix the very pinnacle of contemporary short filmmaking, with unknown rarely-seen gems from the archive. Exploring every genre from animation through to experimental, each programme they put together is diverse and meticulously curated.

They have three programmed events coming up over the next few weeks, the first one is this Sunday. If you’ve never  been to a KINO 10 event, now is your chance. Event details:

AN EVENING OF SHORT FILMS

We’re returning to our spiritual home, the Bull’s Head in Moseley for a cracking line-up of shorts. No theme, just amazingly good films. Will include multi-award winners from various international festivals, and a great little doc about New York record label DFA (LCD Soundsystem).

The Bull’s Head, Moseley, B13 8HW, Sunday 16th June, 8pm (doors at 7:30pm), Tickets: £4.

PURL & SHEEN

Taking ‘knitting, crafting, and materials’ as the theme, this programme of short films spans animation, archive, documentary, music video, and includes some absolute gems, including Spike Jonze’s wonderful (and slightly saucy) felt animation, To Die By Your Side, and the multi-award winning Australian short, Zero, in which all the characters are made out of balls of wool. Come check out the terrific new haberdashery in Moseley and enjoy some tea and cake.

Guthrie & Ghani Haberdashery, Moseley, B13 8JR, Friday 21st June, 6pm – 7:15pm, Tickets: £2.

CITY LIVING (as part of Metropolis at BMAG)

A filmic journey through various cities around the world in this selection of short films. The programme includes Rob Carter’s spellbindingly wonderful collage animation which takes an open field as a blank canvas and with the aid of thousands of cut-outs, it turns into a thriving metropolis. There’ll also be some gems from the archive.

The Gas Hall, Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, B3 3DH, Saturday 22nd June, 2:30pm, Tickets: £5.
