Afrovibes is a thrilling biennial festival of contemporary theatre, dance, spoken word and music from South Africa and beyond that returns to The Drum for a second year.
Highlights Include:
Mother to Mother: Tue 9 Oct, 7.30pm: This personal testimony captures the soul of an ordinary woman, racked by guilt and tragedy. Powerful theatre, delivered with dignity, sensitivity and humour by leading South African actor Thembi Mtshali-Jones
Thirst: Wed 10 Oct, 6pm: a story of survival enriched by dance, physical theatre, song and traditional African Storytelling
..And the girls in their Sunday dresses: Wed 10 & Thurs 11 Oct, 8pm: African version of ‘Waiting for Godot’ played with great hilarity by two of South Africa’s most celebrated comediennes Lesego Motsepe and Hlengiwe Lushaba.
There will also be a launch party on Monday 8th October at 6pm in which you can purchase a special festival pass, giving you access to all 10 performances, workshops and seminars throughout the festilval, as well as an excerpt from the week’s forthcoming performances. Admission is free, pass will be £20.
