Now one of the country’s fastest selling artists, John Myatt was involved in ‘the biggest art fraud of the 20th century’. His life is soon to be made into a Hollywood film and he has also featured in several TV series for Sky and the BBC.
Provenance by John Myatt is an exhibition of over 100 original paintings, drawings and sketches in the style of some of the greatest artists throughout history. Currently being displayed at the Waterhall Gallery on behalf of Washington Green this collection of ‘Genuine Fakes’ also includes Myatt’s paintings in his own style.
The exhibition presents a unique opportunity to view some of the greatest works of art over time, even if they are not by the artist who originally created them. If you, like myself, are a massive Stephen Fry fan – your eyes will instantly be drawn to the painting of our national treasure as Pope Innocent X in the style of Diego Velasquez. You will also see work in the style of Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, John Constable, Pablo Picasso and my own personal favourite Joan Miró – to name but a few.
The collection is viewable from the 29th of September to the 14th of October and admission is free.
