First up, Fierce are in need of volunteers to lend a hand throughout this years festival, which runs from 22 – 27 March. You’ll need to be available to volunteer for at least five shifts during the week, and will be treated to free shows at the festival, a Fierce t-shirt, valuable experience for your CV and the opportunity to meet lots of interesting people.

Eastside Projects also need volunteers to contribute around the gallery. We posted the flyer on CiB’s tumblr yesterday.

VIVID‘s ‘In Association With…’ scheme for emerging and mid-career artists and producers is currently open for submissions. This is a bit of a late mention, as the deadline’s tomorrow (28 Jan), but still, worth a mention.

And finally, some information on Worcestershire Contemporary Art Show, which is taking place throughout May and June. They’re currently open to submissions for exhibitors;

Various Supersonic 2010 bits

The line-ups for the individual days are up. Brumcast’s Little Chris is doing a three-part podcasty preview with episode 1 online here and there’s a Supersonic Spotify playlist too.

Volunteers are needed too – 12 hours work will get you a weekend wristband (over 18’s only). They’re also after any professional standard photographers who’d like to help with documenting the festival to get in touch. Info about both opportunities here.

Social Media Surgery for Voluntary and Community Groups III

The Birmingham Bloggers Group will be hosting their third free social media surgery for voluntary and community groups next Wednesday, January 28th at BVSC 138 Digbeth, B5 6DR, (map). You can drop in anytime between 5.30pm to 7.00pm. Volunteers will be on hand to offer free advice to anyone who is curious to how tools like blogs, podcasts, video and social networks could help to their organisation, community group or charity. The surgery will be: No boring speeches or jargon just hot drink and some friendly advice.

I have a particular interest in how small organisations can use all this ‘internet stuff” to promote themselves so I will be going along for the first time to offer up my bit of knowledge and heaps of enthusiasm to anyone who needs it.

ArtsFest need volunteers

Staging ArtsFest is a huge undertaking as a few of the photos on the ArtsFest365 blog hint at.Â They seem to have taken on a few volunteers recently but they’re looking for more.Â If you fancy getting involved (and I imagine they’ll have all kinds of work) then email artsfest[@]birmingham.gov.uk.

Also, there’s an ArtsFest Twitter for you to follow if you’d like updates in the run-up to 12-14 September.

Volunteers for Supersonic

Capsule need a couple of people to help out at their festival:

There are 2 festival internships available to assist with: Artists liaison / Production / Marketing / Festival Management you will be required to do 5 -10 days between May to July. You will receive valuable work experience and be credited as part of the core team that deliver Supersonic Festival.

In addition to this we need a team of volunteers to help deliver the festival over the weekend of the event itself 10th-14th July and in the run up to Supersonic from June onwards. You will be required to do a minimum of 6 hrs over the weekend in return for a day ticket and festival t-shirt.

Plus it’s a good item to get on the CV – this has been called one of the UK’s best-run festivals, after all. If you’re over 18 and are interested in getting involved then email info[at]capsule.org.uk and put ‘volunteer’ as the subject.
