As part of Regenerated in conjunction with Network Rail; Remi/Rough, Juice126, Zoot, Julian Kimmings and Sola were asked to create large scale artworks to be displayed on Hill Street, Birmingham.

To coincide with the building of the new New Street station, the artists were asked to create works based on the themes of Regeneration, Reflection and Movement.

Please excuse the poor iPhone photography. The hoardings will be up for 18 months in total though, so chances are you’ll wander past them at some point.

‘Changing Places, Changing Faces’ opens at Sauce Gallery‘s new residency in the Art Bar, on 5 November until 2 December, with a preview night on 4 November from 6pm – 9pm.

The exhibition will showcase a collection of large scale installations by Juice 126, Mac 1, Remi/ Rough, Sola and Zoot.

The artist will be transforming the Sauce Gallery from floor to ceiling, expect to see large scale installation work, in a range of disciplines from abstract to Dada, projection to animation, photorealism to light art.

There will also be a small selection of original works, limited edition prints and books by these artists available to buy along with an interactive area showing short films, pod casts and graphic animations.

Sauce Gallery is open Monday – Saturday from 10am – 6pm.

Sola is a photographer with a specialty in ‘lightbombing’, or ‘light graffiti’, ‘light art’ or whatever else you might call it. I’m led to believe it involves long exposures and waving torches around in the dark. I’m sure that description doesn’t do it justice, but however he does it, the results are stunning.

All of Sola’s work is created in camera and there are no special tricks or manipulation of the images – in short, what you see is what he shoots.
