Reclaim Photography West Midlands will take place on Saturday 16 April 2016, taking over public spaces with displayed photography pieces.

Entries now open! Deadline 26th February 4pm.

Reclaim Photography started in Sweden during 2011 and is now here in the West Midlands. This first international project aims to:

  • offer complete inclusivity, free of competition, for all participants;
  • show the very best of art photography from regional and international photographers;
  • take photography back to our streets and public spaces at:
  • Grand Central, Birmingham;

  • raise funds for our regional charity Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer.

The events will co-incide with the University of Wolverhampton Arts Festival and the next major Reclaim Photography event in Sweden.

Prints from the events and additional gallery exhibition will be offered to the public in the form of a donation via lottery draw and theatre auction.

Love is Enough: runs at BMAG 25 April – 6 September 2015

Following a stint at Modern Art Oxford, Love is Enough, an exhibition bringing together two artistic legends, will be coming to Birmingham. Curated by Jeremy Deller, this visual feast of an exhibition launches today and will run until September. It features the work of Andy Warhol and William Morris, two artists you wouldn’t automatically draw together, but the exhibition draws several parallels, surrounding mass production and pattern making amongst other comparisons.

If you’re a fan of either artist, or indeed of patterns, it’s well worth a visit (I was lucky enough to see the exhibition in Oxford).

There’s a lovely selection of images of the team installing the artworks on the Birmingham Post site.

International Dance Festival Birmingham 2016 has put a callout for proposals of work to be performed in ‘Outdoor Places or Unusual Spaces’ (OPUS) for the 2016 edition of the festival.

To see full details go to the full brief on the DanceXchange site: http://www.dancexchange.org.uk/about/commissions-auditions

IDFB is inviting professionals to submit a great idea and concept for a new festival commission for IDFB 2016, with a particular focus on dance or cross-artform projects that take place in outdoor places and unusual spaces. We welcome ideas from any UK or International Artist. The IDFB team will work alongside the successful professional artist/company to produce and realise the OPUS Idea in a collaborative way. The Artist will be paid a fee as collaborator (please include this in your submitted budget), and the project will be creatively produced by IDFB. We welcome proposals that come with a company of performers. Alternatively, performers can be recruited for the project, collaboratively through a fair and equal process. Collaborators or partners should be researched and named within the proposal where relevant, but please note that all artistic personnel will be mutually agreed by the Artist and the Creative Producer.

Deadline for proposals to be submitted: 29 April 2015, 10am

If you have any questions about your proposal, please contact Hannah Sharpe on 0121 689 1093 or email hannah.sharpe@dancexchange.org.uk
